Solar panel electricity systems, also known as photovoltaics (PV), capture the sun's energy using photovoltaic cells. These cells don't need direct sunlight to work – they can still generate some electricity on a cloudy day. The cells convert the sunlight into electricity, which can be used to run household appliances and lighting.  Solar energy is a great way of saving money and being kind to the environment. 

You will be able to benefit fully from the solar energy that your solar panel array generates and the energy generated will be free to use.  A solar battery will also store some electricity for you, which you will benefit from when the panels are not generating energy i.e. when it is dark.   Any unused electricity that goes back to the grid will earn you a payment per kWh.
